Yet another character study based off Jemiah Jefferson's vampire books. This is the multi-talented vamp named Daniel Blum, by the way. He's German who wears lipstick and glittery eye shadow and is into some *freaky* stuff. :stab: He's easily one of the hallmark characters of the vampire series. Seriously, no one can overlook this guy. He's just too crazy, too out there, and very... :chainsaw: :jackdirt: :mwahaha: ...... Never mind. Let's just say this isn't the guy you want to take home to meet the parents. :granny:

And of course, he's also the lover of Orfeo Ricari (the love of my pathetic life) :love: :worship::worship::worship: If you checked out my Orfeo painting and read the description, then you should know what kinda relationship they have.

I did this with a mechanical pencil, btw. I call it an exercise since I'm still wondering what type of hairstyle to give him. It's supposed to be spikey and, if you're like me and have played games like Kingdom Hearts and the Final Fantasy series, you'll realize there are *many* levels to having spikey hair. :D So I'm still messing around and trying to come up with a hip and interesting look. Hence, this character still has a ways to go in terms of depicting him visually. In fact, with the exception of some things, I'm not happy with him quite yet. I think I can do a lot more with this guy and will continue to explore him and try to convey what I see in my head when I read about him. I'll probably email Jefferson and take her up on that offer about showing me some reference pics regarding him. I guess he's such a powerful character that I feel intimidated a bit. :p

I love the shading you've managed to do with this. I've never read the book but your drawing makes me feel as if I know exactly what his character his - great job

Wow, thank you for the lovely comment! I'm glad you love the shading since this is one of the first images that incorporates my traditional painting style. I figured I should try to connect my traditional work with my digital stuff. Again, thank you for the comment. :D

Thanks for the comment! Sorry for the belated response. I'm trying to catch up on my DA checkups.

I'm very excited whenever ppl talk about this piece. It's my experimental faze with color since I'm just floored when ppl talk about it.

And yay! the hand looks good! hands are like the #1 artist nightmare, lol
