Birth of Space by sephiroths-muse Birth of Space by sephiroths-muse
Howdy guys! Thanks for taking the time to check out this work! I did this in black and white prisma color with a hint of pen. ;) This was for a sci-fi contest, in which I was placed in the top ten percent of the nationwide "L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future." Being in the top ten percent allowed me to recieve critques by the best sci-fi artists around!!! This is one of my favorite achievements ever. Anyway, I submitted three entries and this is one of them. I hope to scan the other works I submitted to the contest.

Basically, this is a depiction of the birth of space. These "machines" are creating the planets and stars and spilling 'em out into through this "funnel." There's a second part to this image I just created recently. But it contain's an original character of mines I hope to copyright first before displaying.

All righty, thanks for looking! Oh, and pardon that yellowish color at the left part of the image. I did this pic a long time ago and the paper, well, aged on me. Yuck, that yellowish color really sucks! :(

Interesting thoughts. Universe created in mechanical way! Well performed! But somewhat horrifying!

Sweet! this looks so complex and intricatly designed!
sephiroths-muse Featured By Owner Dec 3, 2007
Weeee! I'm so happy you dig the complexity of this thing. This was back in the days where I tried to smashed everything into a drawing. Unfortunately, that was one of the reasons why I didn't win the contest. One of the judgers said I had *too* much going on. Pfft, whatever. :P

jesus. this is good. howd the critique go?
sephiroths-muse Featured By Owner Oct 1, 2007
Hi! Sorry for the belated response. And thanks for the lovely comment. :D

How'd the critique go? Hmm, well two stated it was too complex. The third judge said the same but also said "this is good stuff!" so...

Well, just the fact I got critiques by reknown sci-fi artists was just awesome. I wish I knew where I put the critique sheet though, LOL.

This is a very good drawing and the concept of creating planets is pretty good as well. Also the whole galatical feeling is all over this drawing creating a dark-setting but not a dark-mood if you know what I mean. The color put in it, was well chosen as well, which add a sci fi feeling to the drawing.

yeah i feel the charlie and the chocolate factory thing as well. nice piece. good composition as well. a spiderweb caught in a biomechanical photocopier. might check out this prismacolour craze as well. alot of artists here seem to use them, dunno if they blend tho.

That's an interesting concept, I have an affinity for space so it's all gravy. Got depth captured well here too. Good stuff.

Whoa, amazing work. Kinda like Charlie and the Chocolate factory meets the creation of space and time. Don't quite know why it made me think that but Iíll go with it. Great work.

Cool ass! Lovely! It's got a very inventive scifi-ish feel to it, but at the same time looks pleasingly organic. I especially love the effect the various shades of black make. You deserved to win!
